Milan Lucic doesn't apologize for handshake antics, inspires terrific T-shirt

Milan Lucic had another chance to speak about his handshake line explosion after losing Game 7 to Montreal and, thankfully, he still didn't apologize. If anything, it's funny to watch his meltdown, so why do we have to be so serious about it?

The Big Bruin – who played like a small cub this post-season – threatened to kill Dale Weise and Alex Emelin next season. This, of course, sparked the usual Twitter outrage that follows these terribly “offensive,” blown-up events.

Won’t somebody please think of the children! And today, after so many knickers had been knotted, Lucic was given another opportunity to speak about it. Thankfully, he didn’t apologize.

"I’m not the first guy to do it, I’m not the last guy to do it. I’m not sorry that I did it,” he said. “I can’t take back what I said. I’m not apologizing for what was said in the handshake. It’s just unfortunate that what was said on the ice gets leaked out and gets blown out of proportion.” Was what Lucic did the most sportsmanlike action ever taken? Of course not. Is it something you’d be OK with your kid doing (a ridiculous, unrelated refrain I’ve heard too much through this)? Of course not. Did he literally mean he was gong to murder the two Canadiens? Nope. With his crotch-ringing stick incidents this season and silly follow-up comments (calling Emelin a chicken, for one), Lucic really developed a reputation as a bonehead in 2013-14. So why does this need to be a big deal? A professional athlete, paid in part to play with emotion, was upset and, frankly, pissed off after losing Game 7 at home to a hated rival. Big whoop. If anything, it's funny to watch him lose it. So let’s have a laugh about it and move on, rather than engage in a debate about selective “class.” And here’s a good way to have some fun with Handshake Fiasco 2014…
