The Buffalo Sabres have their man.
Owen Power, the first overall pick from the 2021 NHL draft, has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres after the conclusion of his sophomore campaign with the University of Michigan.
One of the most hyped prospects in the NHL, Power had a crazy season that saw him score a hat-trick at the World Junior Championship, represent Canada at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games and finish the NCAA season at nearly a point-per-game rate with 32 points in 33 games.
Named to the NCAA's B1G first all-star team, Power was one of the most dominant defensemen in college hockey this season despite being younger than most of the league. Power's NCAA career was capped at 48 points in 59 games, good for sixth among defensemen over the past two years, but first among 92 U-20 defenders.
