The trade deadline festivities keep on rolling.
The Minnesota Wild became the latest team to make a move on Friday, trading forward Jordan Greenway to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 fifth-round pick.
The 26-year-old Greenway is under contract through the 2024-25 season at a cap hit of $3 million.
No matter how you slice it, it's been a difficult season for Greenway in 2022-23. The hulking winger has appeared in just 45 games for the Wild thus far, racking up a mere two goals and five assists for seven points while logging a tad over 13 minutes in average nightly ice time.
Injuries have obviously played a major role in Greenway's struggles this season, sidelining him for the first chunk of the schedule. But Greenway has not been his typically rambunctious self upon returning to the lineup, watching his scoring pace and ice time dip to career lows as he continues to find his footing.
At the height of his powers, Greenway is a very capable power forward who can chip in offensively and wreak havoc along the boards with his massive frame. Perhaps a fresh start could be just what he needs to return to his former form, and an up-and-coming Sabres roster that lacks a true physically imposing forward seems to be as good a place as any.
Stay tuned. The trade deadline appears to be going down to the wire.
