Wouters has served as captain in Abbotsford for the past two seasons

The Abbotsford Canucks have re-signed forward Chase Wouters to a two-year extension, the team announced Wednesday.

A product of North Battleford, Sask., Wouters spent the entire season playing in Abbotsford where he had nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 66 regular season games. Wouters also appeared in six playoff games with Abbotsford where he had two goals and an assist.

Since beginning his professional career in 2021-22, Wouters has spent the entirety of it playing in Abbotsford. Prior to making the jump to the pro level, Wouters played for the Saskatoon Blades (WHL), collecting 75 goals and 106 assists for 181 points in 280 career games.

"Chase has been an integral part of growing and maintaining the culture we want here in Abbotsford," said Abbotsford Canucks GM Ryan Johnson in the team's official press release. "His contributions on and off the ice are a testament to both his abilities and his character."

As Wouters gets set to suit up for his fourth season in Abbotsford, he will play an important part in keeping the team in contention. With the Canucks trying to take the next step towards winning the Calder Cup, their captain will certainly be a key cog if they make it all the way.
