The Chicago Blackhawks have re-signed winger Lukas Reichel to a two-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal will see Reichel make $1.2 million per year with the contract running through the 2025-26 season.
Reichel spent the majority of the season playing with the Blackhawks but did see time with the Rockford IceHogs. In 65 games with the Blackhawks, Reichel scored five goals and added 11 assists for 16 points.
In 10 games with the IceHogs during the regular season, Reichel had one goal and seven assists for eight points in 10 games. He also added four points in four playoff games before the IceHogs were eliminated.
While Reichel has shown hints of what he can become, the Blackhawks are hoping Reichel can take another step in his development and earn a full-time role.
"Just like everybody, we need more from him," Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson mentioned after their 4-2 loss against the Vancouver Canucks on Feb. 13. "We need more from him offensively without giving it up defensively."
Reichel is scheduled to play for Germany at the world championships in Czechia beginning on May 10.
