The Charlotte Checkers have signed Sudbury Wolves defenseman Andre Anania to a one-year, two-way deal, the team announced Thursday.
Anania, who spent his entire OHL career with the Sudbury Wolves, just finished his overage season where he had 41 points in 60 regular season games and an assist in nine playoff games.
Over the course of his four-year OHL career, Anania scored 21 goals and added 66 assists for 87 points in 180 games.
Anania also spent one season in the OJHL with the Stouffville Spirit, collecting 22 points in 52 games.
As Anania makes the transition to the pro game, he is at his best with the puck on his stick. He makes a good first pass and has the ability to activate into the rush to present himself as an option. He doesn't panic under pressure and can use his edgework to escape undesirable situations.
