
The Hartford Wolf Pack have signed forward Maxim Barbashev to a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday.
Barbashev, who was drafted by the New York Rangers in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, was not signed to an entry-level deal by the team but will remain in the organization.
A product of Moskva, Russia, Barbashev spent the 2023-24 season in the QMJHL with the Shawinigan Cataractes and the Rimouski Océanic. Over a total of 59 regular season games, he scored 14 goals and added 21 assists for 35 points.
After his QMJHL season was over, Barbashev also got into one regular season game with the Wolf Pack.
Having spent parts of four seasons in the QMJHL, Barbashev had 152 points in 195 career games.
As Barbashev turns pro, he will have the opportunity to earn a spot in the AHL in training camp. A skilled forward who can finds others in open space in the offensive zone, Barbashev will be one to watch as he develops.
