Daws was drafted by the Devils in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed goaltender Nico Daws to a two-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

The deal will see Daws make $775,000 at the NHL level and $350,000 at the AHL level with $465,000 guaranteed in 2024-25. In the second year of his contract, Daws will make $850,000 if he's in the NHL. Furthermore, Daws' first-year of the deal is a two-way while his second year is a one-way.

Drafted by the Devils in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Daws saw time with both the Devils and Utica Comets in 2023-24. In 21 appearances with New Jersey, he posted a 9-11-0 record, a 3.15 GAA and a .894 SV%. While with the Comets, he posted a 2-6-2 record to go along with a 2.89 GAA and a .890 SV% in 10 appearances.

With the acquisition of Jacob Markstrom to go alongside Jake Allen, Daws will find it tough to play minutes with the Devils next year. Although he saw more time in the NHL than AHL this past season, Daws will most likely be the Comets' starter when the season opens in the fall.
