The New York Islanders have recalled goaltender Tristan Lennox from the Bridgeport Islanders, it was announced Thursday.
The move comes after starting goaltender Ilya Sorokin went down with an injury.
Lennox, a 2021 third round pick of the Islanders, has only made four appearances this season, all with Bridgeport. Over that span, he has posted a record of 0-3-0 to go along with a 4.44 GAA and a .832 SP.
In his second season since turning pro, this is Lennox's first foray in the AHL. Although he spent time with Bridgeport last year, his only playing time came with the ECHL's Worcester Railers. Before that, Lennox spent parts of four seasons with the OHL's Saginaw Spirit.
With Lennox getting recalled to New York, he will have the opportunity to learn from the experience and see what is required to stick at the highest level. Having not seen a lot of time over the past two seasons, Lennox has shown flashes in the past and could still be a solid piece for the Islanders in the long run.
