The Ottawa Senators have re-signed forward Wyatt Bongiovanni to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
The contract will see Bongiovanni make $775,000 at the NHL level and $92,500 at the AHL level.
A product of Birmingham, Mich., Bongiovanni spent time with the Belleville Senators and Manitoba Moose this past season. In 34 regular season games with the Moose, he scored eight goals and added seven assists for 15 points. After being traded to the Senators in March, he collected 10 points in 14 regular season games with Belleville while adding four more in seven playoff games.
Before turning pro at the end of the 2021-22 season, Bongiovanni sent four seasons at Quinnipiac (NCAA) where he scored 50 goals and added 40 assists for 90 points in 123 career games.
With Bongiovanni about to spend his first full season in the Senators organization, he could play himself into being a call-up option next year. His results were really strong once he got traded to Ottawa and if he can carry that over, he will be a prime candidate to make his NHL debut in case of injury.
