The Philadelphia Flyers have assigned goaltender Carson Bjarnason from the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, it was announced Tuesday.
Drafted by the Flyers in the second round of the 2023 NHL Draft, Bjarnason just finished his fourth season with the Wheat Kings, posting a record of 22-15-3 to go along with a 2.93 GAA and a .913 SP in 40 regular season appearances.
Across 156 career WHL regular season games, Bjarnason has collected a record of 75-61-13, a 3.14 GAA and a .903 SP. Before his debut in the WHL, Bjarnason played his minor hockey for the Southwest Cougars and RINK HA Winnipeg.
With Bjarnason being assigned to the AHL, this will be a great opportunity for him to get his feet wet at the pro level. Bjarnason is viewed as an important part of the Flyers' future in net and could potentially be making the jump to the AHL full time in 2025-26.
