San Diego Gulls defeneseman Dillon Heatherington has signed a one-year deal in Germany with EHC Munchen, it was announced Monday.

A 2013 second-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Heatherington spent the entire 2024-25 season with the Gulls, scoring one goal and adding six assists for seven points in 59 regular season games.

Having turned pro at the end of the 2014-15 season, Heatherington has appeared in 23 NHL games over the years with the Dallas Stars and Ottawa Senators, putting up two assists. He has also played in 537 career AHL games, collecting 23 goals and 134 points over that time.

With Heatherington heading to the DEL, this will be his second time heading overseas as he played for Barys Nur-Sultan in the KHL during the 2020-21 season. A physical defender, Heatherington will make an impact at both ends of the ice for his new team.
