Laferrière spent the whole 2023-24 season with the Springfield Thunderbirds

The St. Louis Blues have re-signed forward Mathias Laferrière to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced Sunday.

The contract will see Laferrière make $775,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 at the AHL level.

A 2018 sixth-round pick of the Blues, Laferrière spent this past season playing for the Springfield Thunderbirds where he scored seven goals and added 18 assists for 25 points in 68 games.

Since turning pro at the beginning of the 2021-22 season, Laferrière has played for the Thunderbirds and the Worcester Railers (ECHL). In 174 regular season AHL games, Laferrière has 19 goals and 41 assists for 60 points.

Prior to turning pro, Laferrière played his junior hockey in the QMJHL with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and the Cape Breton Eagles where he had 234 career points in 273 games.

While he will most likely spend the majority of next season in Springfield, injuries always affect teams during the season and Laferrière could play himself into the role of a call-up option.
