The Toronto Maple Leafs and executive Laurence Gilman have mutually agreed to part ways, Pierre LeBrun reported Thursday.
Gilman, whose contract was set to expire this month, spent six seasons with the Leafs and served as the Marlies' senior vice president of hockey operations for the past two seasons.
Having gotten his start with the Phoenix Coyotes in 1998 as director of hockey operations, Gilman has worked for three NHL teams over the course of his long career as an executive.
From 1998-2007, Gilman worked for the Coyotes in numerous roles including director, vice president and senior VP of hockey ops as well as assistant general manager. He also worked for the Coyotes AHL affiliates (Utah Grizzlies and then San Antonio Rampage) as general manager in his final three seasons with the team.
Moving on to the Vancouver Canucks in 2008, Gilman would spend seven years with the team as VP of hockey ops and assistant general manager before joining the Leafs.
As Gilman moves on from the Leafs, it most likely won't be long before he finds employment again.
