DeSimone was claimed on waivers by the Devils in January

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed defenseman Nick DeSimone to a one-year, one-way deal, the team announced Monday.

The deal will see DeSimone make $775,000 at the NHL level.

DeSimone started the 2023-24 season with the Calgary Flames but was claimed off of waivers by the Devils on Jan. 25, 2024.

In 23 regular season games with the Flames, DeSimone had one goal and four assists for five points. DeSimone also saw 10 games with the Calgary Wranglers, collecting eight assists.

Once claimed off of waivers by the Devils, DeSimone played 11 games with the team and had two points in the process.

As DeSimone gets ready for his first full season with the Devils, he will have a strong opportunity to get playing time with the team. While he will most likely serve as a depth piece, DeSimone makes good decisions with the puck and is reliable when he steps out onto the ice.
