The Rockford IceHogs have signed goaltender Ben Gaudreau to a one-year deal, the team announced Monday.
A product of North Bay, Ont., Gaudreau spent this past season playing in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting and Erie Otters. Gaudreau only saw one game with the Sting but appeared in 34 games with the Otters, posting a 20-11-2 record to go along with a 3.29 GAA and a .890 SV%.
"We are excited about the addition of another quality goaltender like Ben," said Mark Bernard, IceHogs GM and President of Hockey Ops in the team's press release. "He enjoyed a tremendous junior career and has experience on the international stage as well. It will be exciting to watch his development over the next year."
A 2021 third round pick of the San Jose Sharks, Gaudreau spent parts of five seasons in the OHL with the Sting and Otters, posting a record of 74-54-12 to go along with a 3.53 GAA and a .890 SV% in 151 appearances.
While Gaudreau may spend some time in the ECHL in 2024-25, he has solid pro tools at his disposal and will be one to watch.
