Todd led the Barracuda in points this past season

The San Jose Sharks have placed forward Nathan Todd on unconditonal waivers for the purpose of contract termination, it was announced Tuesday.

Once Todd's contract is officially terminated, he will become an unrestricted free agent and intends to sign in Russia.

A native of Kemptville, Ont., Todd spent this past season playing for the San Jose Barracuda where he had 19 goals and 36 assists for 55 points in 69 games - good for first on the team.

Over the course of his nine-year professional career, Todd has played in the ECHL (Quad City Mallards & Brampton Beast) and AHL (Binghamton/Belleville Senators, Manitoba Moose, Springfield Thunderbirds & San Jose Barracuda).

Over parts of six seasons in the AHL, Todd has 50 goals and 75 assists for 125 points in 197 career regular season games.

As Todd gets sets to take his career overseas, the Barracuda are losing one of their most important players. As someone who could serve as a mentor for the younger players, Todd's presence will be missed but he will have the opportunity to make an impact in the KHL.
