The Utah Hockey Club have signed forward Egor Sokolov to a one-year, two-way deal, the team announced Tuesday.
A native of Yekaterinburg, Russia, Sokolov signs with Utah after being acquired last week in a deal with the Ottawa Senators.
Having suited up for the Belleville Senators this past year, Sokolov had 21 goals and 25 assists for 46 points in 71 regular season games. With Belleville making the Calder Cup playoffs, Sokolov added four more points in seven playoff games.
Drafted by the Senators in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Sokolov has appeared in 13 career NHL games, collecting a goal and an assist.
As Sokolov heads to his second NHL organization, he could play himself into a role on the team if he has a strong training camp. Having proven to be a productive AHL player, the next step for Sokolov is trying to stick in the NHL. With his size and smarts, it is not out of the realm of possibilities.
