North Dakota’s Sacha Boisvert is one of the hottest prospects in this year’s draft class due to his impeccable vision and hockey sense.

The NHL draft quickly approaches on June 28th and to make things interesting, sportsbooks have posted betting odds for certain prospects and where they will land.

We spoke with the Hockey News’s NCAA insider Mathieu Sheridan on highly anticipated prospects out of College Hockey like North Dakota’s Sacha Boisvert.

The Canadian centre is slated to go in the first round and with certain sportsbooks you can decide when you think he will get selected. Sheridan looks to give us his insights as he’s worked his way through several scouting agencies including Neutral Zone.

All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.

Bet: Sacha Boisvert Under 25.5 Draft Position (-210)

Boisvert is a 6-foot-2 centre, that has an incredible way of processing the game that makes him a much sought after talent. Sheridan agrees with this sentiment as he believes Boisvert has processing ability that separates him from other prospects.

“He times himself well to the net and often appears at the right moment to finish a chance or create a second-hand opportunity,” he said “He puts himself into positions to unleash his powerful shot as well.”

This is a skill seen used to the fullest extent by players like Connor McDavid, when he scored his highlight reel goal in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals after reading Miro Heiskanen was on his opposite side and cutting through his stick for an easy goal.

McDavid utilized his super-computer brain as soon as he entered the league and helped make his transition much easier and if Boisvert can do this to even a percentage of McDavid’s talents than he should be a great player in the NHL.

Before joining North Dakota, Boisvert dominated in the USHL with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. He is coming off an impressive 36-goal campaign and finished with 68 points in 61 games.

“Whether that is by beating his man off the rush or finding open space in the offensive zone, he displays good vision with the puck, showing an ability to find teammates through layers of pressure in the slot,” Sheridan said.

Boisvert is well-liked by hockey insiders as he is ranked within the top 25 prospects in 14 different prospect rankings. The highest he is ranked is 19th by the Hockey News’s Ryan Kennedy.

For his selection in the draft, most people seem to agree that he should go in the top 25 players and have this bet at fairly steep odds which makes it work better as a parlay add, rather than a straight bet.

“It's in the right range but I think he goes before 25,” Sheridan said.
