The Lightning received some unfortunate news late Monday – as first reported by the Tampa Tribune, right winger Ryan Callahan had to have emergency appendectomy surgery and likely will miss the rest of Tampa Bay's second-round series against Montreal.
The 30-year-old Callahan hadn't registered a point in the series against the Canadiens and posted only three assists in 12 playoff games this year, but he's one of the Bolts' most experienced playoff performers, with 50 points in 75 career post-season games. He could be replaced in the lineup for Game 6 in Tampa Tuesday by rookie Jonathan Drouin, who has appeared in just two games in the second round and three playoff games in total this season.
