BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston Bruins will host the Ottawa Senators for the first time this season in the second matchup out of three between the two Atlantic Division rivals.
The last time the two sides squared off, the Bruins won 3-2 in overtime with Brad Marchand scoring the winner on Jan. 25. Boston led 2-0 midway through the second period before Ottawa tied it up.
A couple notable lineup changes include Kevin Shattenkirk drawing back in the lineup in place of Parker Wotherspoon. The right-shot Shattenkirk will play on his off-side next to Andrew Peeke, with Montgomery wanting to see which of his defensemen display the most comfort on their off-side.
“Experimenting is experimenting to try and find the people that are gonna deserve to start Game 1 of the playoffs,” Montgomery said after Tuesday’s morning skate. “It’s not so much ‘see this guy with that guy.’ We’re trying to find out the lineup that’s gonna give us the best success.”
Additionally, James van Riemsdyk is expected to be scratched. He stayed on with scratched defensemen Mason Lohrei and Wotherspoon for extra work after the team’s skate. Jakub Lauko is expected to step in.
The Bruins are looking for better luck on the power play, where they’ve gone 1-for-9 (11.1%) in their past three games.
“We know what the recipe [is],” David Pastrnak said. “I think we have to be more patient. We trying to look for the [Grade-A chance], look right away instead of maybe possess it and then recover the puck, and that’s when the holes open up. So we know the recipe, we just need a couple goals to get going, and I think it’s gonna turn around soon.”
Puck drops at 7 p.m. at TD Garden.
