Hey folks, and let me introduce myself! My name is Mike DiStefano (a.k.a. Al’s Brother), and I am excited to bring expanded coverage of the world of hockey cards and sports memorabilia collecting to The Hockey News.
The sports card and collectibles market has seen a major boom in the last few years. My goal for this website is to provide hockey fans of all levels with up-to-date news about the hockey card hobby while providing personal opinions and analysis on the market itself via video and/or written word.
Check back regularly, as there will always be something new and exciting on the site.
A little background about me: I’ve been a hockey fan since I was the size of a mini stick. I got into card collecting back in 2005 when the chase for Sidney Crosby’s rookie was in full force. I never pulled the Young Guns, but I recall being ecstatic when I did open up the rookie checklist which featured Crosby on one side and Corey Perry on the other half.
Like most childhood hobbies, my passion for collecting faded as I approached high school. I still opened up some packs here and there and scrolled eBay from time to time, but it wasn’t until 2020 when that full-time passion was re-ignited and I’ve been buying, selling, and trading hockey cards ever since.
The hobby is flourishing like never before and I want to provide a go-to place for collectors of all levels to watch, listen, read, and learn about all things hockey card and memorabilia collecting. I hope you enjoy the content and are ready for what should be another exciting year of hockey!
