The Detroit Red Wings added more depth to their blue line on Friday afternoon, signing veteran defenseman Travis Hamonic to a one-year, $1 million contract.

Hamonic is the latest free-agent signing by Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman this offseason, joining James van Riemsdyk, Mason Appleton, and fellow defensemen Jacob Bernard-Docker and Ian Mitchell.

Hamonic will likely be competing for a spot on Detroit's third defensive pairing, and could also find himself playing in the American Hockey League with the Grand Rapids Griffins and utilized in Detroit in the event of an injury.

Given the inexpensive, short-term nature of Hamonic's deal, are you satisfied with this latest signing?
