Breakout Candidate: Nicholas Robertson, LW/RW
Robertson’ inclusion is predicated on two factors: first, and most important, he has a regular spot in the lineup. Second, he skates in a top-nine role. If both aspects come true, Robertson could build on the 14 and 15 goals he scored the past two seasons, respectively, especially if he sees time on the second power play unit.
Buy Low Candidate: Nicolas Roy, C
No, my focus is not solely on the third line, but some value exists in that trio. Roy has shown he can move up and down the lineup but is not someone to count on for your team. He is best utilized as a streamer but can provide some offense at a low-cost price. With the right usage and linemates, Roy could notch 40 points.
Riser: Anthony Stolarz, G
Stolarz built off the success he had in 2023-24 with Florida to post career-best numbers last season with Toronto. Playing in 34 games, Stolarz posted a 21-8-3 record with a 2.14 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. He and Joseph Woll provided the Maple Leafs with an upgrade between the pipes. If Woll is sidelined due to the personal matter that has kept him out, look for Stolarz to see additional action in net.
Faller: Max Domi, C/LW
Domi’s production fell for the second season in a row. If he skates on the first line, Domi could see a reversal of fortune. The likely event has Domi remaining in the middle to bottom six, where 30-35 points is a probable outcome. Watch his line placement closely and adjust accordingly.
