The Coachella Valley Firebirds have re-signed Ian Mckinnon to an AHL deal for the 2024-25 season.

The 26-year-old spent the previous two seasons with the Firebirds scoring two goals and five points in 56 games. His stats may not be eye-popping but the physicality he provides the club is a spark they tend to rely on. In his first season with the Firebirds, he racked up 102 penalty minutes and followed that up with 38 in the 2023-24 season.

Before signing with the Firebirds, the Whitby, Ontario native played with the Jacksonville IceMen of the ECHL and the Providence Bruins of the AHL.

The 6'2, 212 lbs, left-handed centreman has bounced from league to league throughout his career. He's registered games in the OJHL, OHL, GOJHL and the QMJHL.

Mckinnon will provide the Firebirds with a physical edge and will serve as a protector to many of the young prospects joining the team this season.
