The Boston University Terriers defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes by a score of 8-3 in the first game of the National Championship Thursday.

Backstopped by New Jersey Devils prospect Mikhail Yegorov, the Terriers exploded for eight goals, including a five goal third period to end the Buckeyes' season.

While the final score may indicate a one sided game, that was far from the case. The opening frame saw both teams trading chances before the Buckeyes were able to break through first, with a goal coming from fifth year forward Joe Dunlap.

Dunlap's goal seemed to give the Buckeyes momentum for the remainder of the period as they threw a flurry of shots on Yegorov but could not break through again.

The second period saw balanced play from both teams before the Terriers were able to even up the score just before the midway mark of the period off a goal from New York Islanders prospect Cole Eiserman.

In what was a final intense 10 minutes of play during the second, the game saw the Buckeyes wrestle the lead back twice only for the Terriers to come roaring back to tie it up each time.

Tied 3-3 heading into the third, the game seemed to be up to either team for the taking but the Terriers' stars proved to be too much. Starting with a goal from Aiden Celebrini just over two minutes into the third, the Terriers added goals from Jack Hughes, Cole Eiserman, Jack Harvey and Cole Hutson to close out the game.

Credit is due for the Buckeyes as they lead in total shots by a good margin but Yegorov ultimately proved to be too much.

The Terriers will play the winner of Cornell and Michigan State which gets underway later today.
