Former Michigan State forward Tanner Kelly has signed a one-year deal with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye, it was announced Wednesday.

Kelly, who hails from San Diego, Calif., wrapped up his senior year with the Spartans last season, scoring eight goals and adding nine assists for 17 points in 37 games. Over 144 career collegiate games, the 23-year-old accumulated 24 goals and 34 assists for 58 points.

Prior to making the trek to Michigan State, Kelly played his junior hockey in the USHL with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Over parts of three seasons with the team, Kelly put up 24 goals and 63 points in 101 regular season games.

With Kelly making the decision to turn pro, he will be joining a Walleye team that has been one of the strongest ECHL teams over the past few seasons. A skilled forward who works hard at both ends of the ice, Kelly should be able to grab a role in Toledo and run with it.
