
The Boston College line and Michael Hrabal led their teams to wins

Day 1 of the 2025 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships is underway and many of the slate's top performers play in the NCAA.
Here are the college hockey players who stood out on Thursday.
Boston University defenseman Tom Willander picked up an assist in Sweden's win. He led all skaters with 24:43 minutes of ice time Thursday.
For Slovakia, UMass forward Daniel Jencko scored late in the third period on the power play. Michigan State blueliner Maxim Strbak picked up an assist on Jencko's tally, finishing the game with two helpers.
The Boston College line of James Hagens, Ryan Leonard, and Gabe Perreault shone bright for the U.S. Hagens led the way with two goals and two assists, Leonard picked up two helpers, and Perreault scored twice and recorded an assist.
Boston University defenseman Cole Hutson finished with five assists, recording the most points of any player on the first day of the tournament. His collegiate teammates Cole Eiserman and Brandon Svoboda each picked up a goal and an assist in the win.
Providence's Trevor Connelly recorded a goal and an assist, and Minnesota's Brodie Ziemer scored twice. In goal, Spartans netminder Trey Augustine made 18 saves on 22 shots, picking up the win.
Michael Hrabal, goaltender for the Minutemen, was excellent in net for Czechia, stopping 25 of 26 shots in the win, making several stellar saves.
