A King's ransom

Sam Dolen, Bexley, Ohio

I think the Kings made a good decision when they signed Rob Scuderi to a $3.4 million, four-year contract.

Scuderi was spectacular during the playoffs for the Penguins. He is put in all kinds of situations (penalty kill, even strength, etc.). He was a key player in the Pens' victory, making a game-saving kick save in Game 6.

You can compare his skills to even the great Nick Lidstrom. His past in the NHL doesn't matter anymore. He has come from barely making the team to a great stay-at-home defenseman.

He will be a good person to look up to for Drew Doughty and Jack Johnson on the Kings. He is also a great leader.

I wouldn't be surprised if I see an "A" (or maybe even a "C") on his jersey next season.

He can take the Kings far.
