A moustache to remember

Heidi Livermore, Blair, Neb.

I read my The Hockey News magazine every month from cover to cover and I love the stories from fans meeting a player from their team.

I am at a disadvantage because I live in Nebraska and my team is the Anaheim Ducks. I did not get to meet a player, but I was able to have an experience that I will treasure.

George Parros started a line of merchandise called Stache Gear with the proceeds going to two charities. I heard about it from watching the games and read about it on the Ducks website.

I contacted the Ducks team store to purchase a t-shirt and asked if it was possible for Parros sign it for me. The gentleman said that he did not think it was going to be possible.

For the past several years, my only actual contact to the team was through Adam Brady, who is the director of publications and new media for the team. We have emailed back and forth on subjects regarding the Ducks in addition to my sending him a birthday email every year.

I emailed Brady asking if it was possible to have both he and Parros sign my shirt. He contacted me right away saying yes it was possible and where would I like them to sign the shirt.

A week later a package arrived at my house with the signed t-shirt inside.

To say I was thrilled was an understatement. Just goes to prove that even if you are not in the same state as your favorite team the players and staff go out of their way for the fans.

Thank you, Adam and George.
