A star is born

Donald Wallish, Northumberland, Pa.

Kudos to the writers in Vancouver on Jan. 16 for selecting the Penguins 19-year-old goalie Alex Pechurski as the game's third star.

Sure he only faced 13 shots in mop-up duty for a one-sided game, but giving him the honor was the icing on the cake for his first NHL game.

A clip showed he wasn't even sure what to do after he was announced; someone had to point him to the ice to skate in a circle.

Six WHL games under his belt, no NHL pay because of his tryout contract, no grasp of the English language and thrown to the fire against the Sedins and company?

Sounds like that No. 3 star was well deserved after all.
