‘Charity point’ system must go

The NHL adopted the ‘loser point’ to address teams not attempting to play offensively during OT seasons ago.

With the institution of the shootout and no more tied games, the continued use of the ‘loser’ point only allows for more unexciting defensive play during the latter part of the third period.

No other major sport has such an antiquated point system as the NHL.

It is time to lose the "charity point" or better yet go to winning percentage like all other major sports.

A win is a win and a loss is a loss.
