Apologies from the Detroit Red Wings

Dear NHL,

We would like to say sorry. We know you would have loved to give the Stanley Cup to Mr. Crosby and have Gary Bettman announce that the name of the Stanley Cup is now called the Sidney Cup.

Sorry for not having any skilled players. We know you would love to market our guys, but Henrik and Pavel are just odd names, right?

Also, the salary cap should have slowed us down, to join the rest of the league in that parity thing, again sorry.

Could you let Mr. Cherry know we are also sorry for not having a team full of Canadian fighters? We think he is still at home mumbling “how could a European captain win the Cup?” over and over.

Thanks,

The Detroit Red Wings. 2008 Stanley Cup Champs.

Eric Gerber, Temperance, Mich.
