Arbitrator awards New York Rangers forward Sean Avery US$1.9 million

The Rangers have 48 hours to decide if they'll accept the ruling.

Avery earned $1.1 million last season.

The 27-year-old had a career-high 48 points (18-30) while splitting the year with Los Angeles and the Rangers.

New York is close to the salary cap and might have trouble fitting Avery onto its roster.
