Goal scoring wizard Alex Ovechkin is in the news again with another mind-blowing goal that could be the best of his career.
Alex Ovechkin’s great season continued on Friday night for Washington in a 5-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens when ‘Ovie’ added another highlight reel goal to his collection.
The magnificent goal was the league-leading 36th on the season for No.8, who also tops the NHL in power play goals (13) and shots (266), while he sits sixth in game-winning goals (5) and twelfth in points (51).
The juggling act was impressive from a skill standpoint, but keep in mind that he also put it passed the incredibly talented Carey Price, who has a very good chance at starting in net for Team Canada at the Sochi Games and has been on the other side of many highlight reel plays himself.
The goal may in fact be the best of Ovechkin’s career so far, but we’ve seen mind-boggling wizardry from the Russian before.
How would you compare tonight’s ‘puck juggle’ to the top ten above?
Is Ovechkin the most creative goal scorer of all-time?
Sure, there are legendary goals ranging from Maurice Richard’s 50th goal in his 50th game in 1944-45 to Paul Henderson’s game-winning goal in the 1972 Summit Series, but based on pure technique alone, are there any goals out there that top the best of Ovechkin?
What about Valeri Kamensky’s flipping goal in 1997? How about one of the many brilliant pieces of goal-scoring artwork createded by Pavel Datsyuk?
