WINNIPEG – Artem Ansimov scored a pair of power-play goals and P.A. Parenteau added three assists as the Hartford Wolf Pack defeated the Manitoba Moose 6-3 in American Hockey League action Tuesday.
Corey Potter scored a goal and added an assist and Bobby Sanguinetti chipped in two assists as the Hartford power play went 3-for-6 against a Manitoba penalty-kill that came into the game ranked second in the AHL at 87.6 per cent.
Greg Moore, Patrick Rissmiller and Mike Ouellette also scored for Hartford (18-15-1-3).
Guillaume Desbiens scored twice for the Moose (22-12-0-2), while Nolan Baumgartner had Manitoba’s other goal.
The Wolf Pack’s power play struck for a pair of goals in the first period, both by Anisimov.
A rebound of a Parenteau shot went off of Manitoba starting goaltender Karl Goehring right to Anisimov, and he put the puck home from the right-wing side of the goalmouth.
Later, an attempted centring pass by Anisimov from near the right-wing corner was inadvertently knocked into the net by Goehring.
Moore made it 3-0 for the Wolf Pack in the second period, as his shot off left wing hit a Moose defender’s stick and deflected inside the post to Goehring’s left.
The Wolf Pack chased Goehring from the game 1:34 later with their third power-play goal of the game. Potter took a pass in the left circle from Parenteau and scored his third goal of the season.
Rissmiller put Hartford up 5-0 1:13 into the third period with an unassisted goal, beating relief netminder Cory Schneider with a wrist shot to the stick side.
The Moose ruined Miika Wiikman’s shutout bid with two goals in 60 seconds. First Baumgartner put in a sharp-angle shot from the left-wing side and then Desbiens took a pass from Jason Krog and went backhand to forehand before hitting the top corner on the glove side.
Ouellette got one of those goals back for the Wolf Pack on a rebound of a Jordan Owens shot at 10:15, before Desbiens scored his second of the game with 49 seconds left.
Hartford scored its six goals on only 21 shots. Wiikman made 25 saves in the Wolf Pack net.
