Auld gets 1st start since joining New York Rangers, facing Washington Capitals

WASHINGTON – Goalie Alex Auld is getting his first start with the New York Rangers.

Rangers coach John Tortorella says Auld will play against the Washington Capitals on Saturday night. The veteran goalie was claimed off re-entry waivers from the Dallas Stars on Feb. 27.

He was 9-6-3 with a 3.00 goals-against average in 21 games this season with the Stars. Auld is 83-81-2-26 over eight NHL seasons with six teams.

Says Tortorella: “It’s time for him to play.”
