Avalanche beat Oilers 4-1 to earn fourth consecutive victory

DENVER – Ian Laperriere scored his first goal of the season, Peter Budaj stopped 25 shots, and the Colorado Avalanche won their fourth straight, beating the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 on Thursday night.

Joe Sakic, Paul Stastny and Cody McLeod added goals for Colorado, the highest-scoring team in the NHL. Darcy Tucker and Ben Guite each added two assists.

Shawn Horcoff scored the Oilers’ lone goal, his third of the season. The Oilers have suddenly fallen into a funk since winning four in a row. Edmonton lost 3-0 Wednesday night in Chicago.
