Avalanche F Paul Stastny will miss game against Winnipeg with sore back

DENVER – Colorado Avalanche forward Paul Stastny will miss the game Monday night against the Winnipeg Jets because of a balky back.

Coach Patrick Roy said after the morning skate that he hopes Stastny can return to the lineup on Wednesday against Chicago. The 28-year-old Stastny is scheduled to see the team doctor later Monday.

Stastny suffered back spasms following his first shift on Saturday against Central Division-leading St. Louis. He didn’t return to the game. Stastny is one of the team’s top offensive threats with 20 goals and 27 assists this season.
