Avalanche hope to snap skid against Predators

Nashville (6-6-1) at Colorado (5-8-0), 9:00 p.m. EST

DENVER (Ticker) — The struggling Colorado Avalanche hope to
snap a five-game losing streak when they host the Nashville
Predators on Saturday.

Colorado has totaled just eight goals during its skid and had to
play without captain Joe Sakic during Thursday’s 3-1 loss at
Minnesota. Sakic missed the game after straining his back
during Wednesday’s practice.

The Avalanche’s goaltending has not been much better as Peter
Budaj has surrendered 17 goals over his last four games. The
Czech netminder is 3-7-0 with a 3.40 goals-against average.

Hosting the Predators may help the Avalanche as Nashville comes
in on a five-game road losing streak.

Nashville has lost the first two games – one beyond regulation –
of a six-game road trip, which includes a 7-6 setback at Calgary
on Thursday. Martin Erat and David Legwand each had a goal and
two assists in the loss.

Defenseman Shea Weber had two tallies against the Flames and the
23-year-old leads the club with seven goals. He had six all of
last year.
