DENVER – Colorado Avalanche forward Ryan O’Reilly has a shoulder injury after crashing headfirst into the boards in a game against the Minnesota Wild on Friday night.
O’Reilly was carried off the ice on a stretcher in the second period after falling while pursuing the puck alongside Minnesota’s Matt Cullen. Play was stopped for about 10 minutes while trainers attended to the motionless O’Reilly.
The teams said he will be re-evaluated in the next few days.
The 19-year-old O’Reilly has five goals and 10 assists this season for the Avalanche.
