Baker and Magowan lead Americans to big 2nd period in 6-3 win over Nationals

Brad Schell, Colton Fretter, John Laliberte and Jamie Tardif had the other goals for the American Conference. Derek Nesbitt, Luke Curtin and Julian Talbot replied for the Nationals.

Both teams used three goalies, with Cedrick Desjardins stopping all nine shots in the second period to earn the win for the Americans. Adam Berkhoel made 10 saves in the opening period and David Shantz allowed a pair of goals on 17 shots in the third.

Devan Dubnyk took the loss after surrendering three goals on 20 shots while playing the second period for the Nationals. Mike McKenna started and made 17 saves, while Ryan MacDonald blocked four of five shots in the final frame.

Referee Jason Rollins did not call a single penalty in the match.
