CEDAR PARK, Texas – Kyle Wilson, Mathieu Perreault and Andrew Gordon each scored twice and the Hershey Bears came to life in the American Hockey League final with a 6-3 win over the Texas Stars on Monday.
The Stars still lead the defending Calder Cup champions 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.
Game 4 is Wednesday in Cedar Park, Texas. The visiting team has won every game in the series so far.
Early on it looked like Texas would take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. Andrew Hutchinson, Francis Wathier and Raymond Sawada each had first-period goals to help the Stars take a 3-1 lead after the first period.
Wilson had Hershey’s only goal of the first period.
The Bears, who were the AHL’s top team during the regular season, finally came to life in the second period. Wilson scored on a power play for his second goal of the game, then Perreault scored 88 seconds later to tie the game 3-3.
The Bears carried that momentum into the third period, and two goals from Gordon and one from Perreault over the final twenty minutes emphatically ended the Stars’ chance at a sweep.
Michal Neuvirth made 27 saves for Hershey while Matt Climie stopped 23 shots for Texas.
