Ben Maxwell scores twice as Hamilton cruises by Americans 4-1

HAMILTON, Ont. – Ben Maxwell scored twice and the Hamilton Bulldogs scored three times in the first period en route to a 4-1 win over the Rochester Americans in American Hockey League play Saturday.

P.K. Subban opened the scoring at 8:00 on the power play, and Maxwell scored his first of the game for the Bulldogs (38-14-8) just over a minute later.

With Hamilton defenceman Frederic St. Denis serving two minutes for holding, Ryan Russell was hooked by a Rochester defenceman as he broke in on Americans goaltender Tyler Plante. Russell’s ensuing short-handed penalty shot put the Bulldogs up 3-0.
