Center Andrew Ebbett has been claimed by the Chicago Blackhawks off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks.
Ebbett, who was signed by the Ducks as a college free agent in 2006, is minus-1 and hasn’t scored a point in two games this season. The Michigan grad is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound scoring forward. He tallied 32 points in 48 games for Anaheim last season, splitting the season the with former American League affiliate, the Iowa Chops.
A 26-year-old native of Vernon, B.C., Ebbett is up for unrestricted free agency at the end of the season, but provides the Hawks with a cheap $487,500 cap hit in the meantime.
