Blackhawks eyeing another strong effort to start February

Chicago (27-13-8) at Edmonton (25-21-3) 9:00 p.m. EST

EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) — The Chicago Blackhawks are hoping
to duplicate their December success in February.

After closing a mediocre January with a thrilling win, the
Blackhawks look to continue that momentum Tuesday when they
visit the Edmonton Oilers.

Chicago posted the second-best record in the NHL during
December, going 10-1-1 in the month but followed that
performance with a 7-6-1 mark in January.

The Blackhawks sealed a winning record last month with
Saturday’s 4-2 victory over the Western Conference-leading San
Jose Sharks.

Captain Jonathan Toews, who was 14 years old the last time the
Blackhawks won in San Jose, scored two goals as Chicago snapped
a 13-game losing skid to the Sharks and handed them only their
second regulation loss at home since last February.

The Blackhawks are poised to build on that win against the
Oilers, who suffered a 9-2 loss at home during the teams’ last
meeting on December 16.

Edmonton is coming off a 2-1 loss to the Nashville Predators on
Sunday. Dwayne Roloson finished with 27 saves for the Oilers,
enduring his fourth loss in his last 12 home starts.
