Blue Jackets send forward Derek MacKenzie down to Syracuse

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Blue Jackets assigned forward Derek MacKenzie to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse on Thursday.

The 27-year-old MacKenzie was recalled from Syracuse on Jan. 12 and had two penalty minutes in Tuesday’s 4-3 win over Colorado in his lone appearance with the club.

He has two goals and two assists in 46 career NHL games with Columbus and Atlanta, including two goals in 18 games with the Blue Jackets. He has eight goals and 10 assists in 23 games at Syracuse this season.
