Boston Bruins lock up defenceman Mark Stuart to two-year deal

BOSTON – The Boston Bruins have signed defenceman Mark Stuart to a US$2.6-million, two-year contract. He was a restricted free agent.

The 24-year-old native of Rochester, Minn., played in a career-high 82 games last season, putting up four goals, four assists, 81 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating while earning $942,400.

Stuart, who played for the United States at the IIHF World Hockey Championship in May, will earn $1.1 million next season and $1.5 million in 2009-10.
