BOSTON – Boston Bruins have acquired forward Matt Marquardt from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for defenceman Jonathan Sigalet, the club announced Tuesday.
Marquardt, 20, registered 43 goals and 26 assists in 68 games last season, which he split between QMJHL’s Baie-Comeau and Moncton.
After recording 20-13-33 totals in 35 games for Moncton, he was traded to Baie-Comeau in December 2007 where he scored 23 goals and added 13 helpers in 33 games.
Marquardt was originally selected by the Blue Jackets in the seventh round, 194th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, but had not signed with Columbus.
Sigalet saw action in 74 regular season games for the AHL’s Providence Bruins last season where he notched three goals and 20 assists.
His only NHL appearance came on January 9, 2007 with Boston in a game at Ottawa. He was drafted by the Bruins in the fourth round, 100th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
