The Boston Bruins shipped defenseman Andrew Alberts to Philadelphia Monday, in exchange for 22-year-old left winger Ned Lukacevic and a fourth-round pick in the 2009 entry draft.
“Andrew is a big, competitive defenseman and he skates well,” said Flyers GM Paul Holmgren in a statement. “He will bring experience and depth to our team.”
If the Flyers re-sign Alberts at the end of the season, the fourth-rounder turns into a third-rounder.
Alberts, originally selected in the fifth round, 179th overall by the Bruins in the 2001 entry draft, was limited to 35 games last season and registered two assists.
Lukacevic was selected 100th overall in 2004 by Los Angeles and recorded 17 goals and 36 points in 61 games for the Reading Royals of the ECHL last season.
